I took this photo of Radio Havana Restaurant on 22nd and Valencia st about a year ago. They've been there for as long as I can remember and they always had this great collection of all these random things attached to the front of the place. From time to time they would add or remove something so every time I walked by it was fun to see what I could find different from the last time. Well, I walked by a few days ago and I couldn't believe it, they had taken everything down! Why would they do that? It was just such a big part of the personality of the place. I just hate to see so much of the cool and quirky things that make this such a great city disappear. I was just telling someone that I remember back in the 60's, my grandfather would take me in his taxi at night on the freeway and you could see all the lights from the beer and coffee factories south of Market st. And then early in the morning you could smell the coffee roasting and the french bread baking. Now I know progress must go forward but I just really miss all those quintessential San Francisco things that are gone now and Radio Havana taking all those things down just reminded me of how much this City has changed in just my lifetime. O.K., got that off my chest. See ya soon, Victor
I spend a lot of time everyday walking around San Francisco and I often see things that I wish I had a way to share with friends and family. Well now I do and that's what this blog is going to be about. Just photos and comments about what I experience in San Francisco. I can't promise I'll be able to post everyday, but I will do my best to do so. I hope you enjoy and share with the people you know.
